Fishing tradition has always been a constant source of wealth in the Andalusian coasts. Hundreds of artisanal vessels depart every morning in order to bring that delicious fresh product to our land. The aim of this tour is to value and understand the travel of the fish from the sea to the table.
FISHING NEIGHBOURHOOD
We will visit an authentic fishing neighbourhood with a lighthouse, going through its narrow streets overflown by the characteristic sound of seagulls and watered by the sea salt smell.
FISHING PORT
Our guide will take us to the fishing port in order to explain all the facilities, visiting netters, profession which is becoming extinct. At the port we will see the arrival of the boats which had left early in the morning, fighting with effort for bringing the best fish from high seas areas. We will be aware of the difficulties of this skill, realizing the added value of fresh fish which constantly arrives to all the restaurants of the country day after day.
After an intense day of work, the same fishermen whose arrival we have previously seen, will give us some pieces of fish that they have just captured. Together with them we will go through a quality workshop, where we will learn how to spot fresh fish. Touching its scales we will see the diverse iridescent colours and textures, becoming expert fishermen to choose the fish we will later savour.
THE FRESHEST TAPA TO SAVOUR
The experience continues in the heart of the mountain range to visit Benahavís, one the most beautiful and visited villages of Costa del Sol. There, we will have a walk through its narrow and white streets full of flowers before carrying the fresh fish to our chef who will cook it live in order to enjoy a tasty tapa while the elaboration process and its qualities are explained. We will be able to taste the authentic flavour of the sea and the newness that this product offers. This is how we will close the cycle of the seafaring essence tour: from the port to the table.
After the tour you will have time to eat and discover the gastronomic paradise of Benhavís, full of meat, fish and seafood.
